CHAPTER 27

Sun, sea, and sand… what more can a girl ask for on her honeymoon? I stretch in our bed at the exclusive Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas. The surroundings are nothing short of extraordinary.

Our suite boasts a spacious living area adorned with plush furnishings and a palette of soothing colors that complement the breathtaking views of the crystal-clear turquoise waters just beyond our private terrace.

The bedroom features a king-sized bed with the finest linens. Floor-to-ceiling windows allow natural light to flood the room. The en suite bathroom boasts marble finishes, a deep soaking tub, and a separate rainforest shower.

Our private terrace offers panoramic views of the pristine white sand beach and the glistening ocean, complete with a private plunge pool for unwinding in the tropical paradise that surrounds us.

But there’s no Charles beside me. No, not Charles, but my husband. I hold my hand up and gaze at my engagement ring with a large flawless diamond at its center, surrounded by a halo of smaller diamonds. The wedding band is encrusted with diamonds which wrap around, creating a continuous circle of brilliance.

They’re both beautiful, and even if my wedding wasn’t the one I expected, my husband is everything I want and more. I’m no longer a virgin nor the blushing bride.

I have no idea what time it is, but I get up and put on my bikini. Charles packed it for me, and it doesn’t leave anything to the imagination—a thong and a thin string called a bra. It isn’t something I would normally wear. Usually, I opt for full panties or shorts and a bra that just about covers my breasts. I have a decent size, but I tend to be a bit shy about showing all of my body. I couldn’t tell him I didn’t like any of the clothes he packed because it would be as if I was ungrateful.

I’m not curvy or anything, but as I put on the bikini, I realize maybe my husband is right. I do have a good figure, and his spoiling me with pancakes and a full English breakfast for the last few days before I was back on my feet has helped me get a lot stronger than before.

I head down to the beach after I freshen up, thinking maybe Charles would be in the same spot we were in only yesterday. I could stay here forever, not only because the weather is like ten times better than it is in Windsor, but I feel at peace here.

After getting ready, I take my phone to call him.

Nothing.

Where is he?

I leave the suite with the beach mat and my purse, then I go down to the same spot we were on the beach, all the while looking in case I spot him.

Nothing.

I lie down on the sand and try to get my pale skin a little tanned. My husband says I look good with a little color, so I decide to try to get some. I’ll send him a text so he knows where to find me later on.
